RCB Vs SRH

The Big Picture

RCB, the defending champions, will face SRH on the opening night of IPL 2026 at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. This is only the second time both teams have met in an IPL season opener — they previously did so in 2017, when SRH were the defending champions. For RCB, this will be their seventh time opening the tournament.

Team News
Both teams will be without key bowlers for the opener. RCB's Josh Hazlewood, their highest wicket-taker last season, has been ruled out of early games due to a hamstring injury. SRH will also be without captain Pat Cummins, who is recovering from a back issue following the Australian summer.

What to Expect
RCB's batting lineup is expected to feature Virat Kohli and Phil Salt at the top, with Rajat Patidar and Tim David in the middle order. For SRH, the explosive "TraviShek" opening duo of Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma, along with Ishan Kishan, Heinrich Klaasen, and Liam Livingstone, makes them one of the most dangerous batting sides.

Head-to-Head at Chinnaswamy
RCB lead the overall head-to-head 13–12, and at Chinnaswamy specifically, RCB have won 5 vs SRH's 3. Notably, SRH smashed 287/3 at this very ground in 2024 — still the highest team total ever recorded there.

Should be a cracking start to IPL 2026! 🔥
